Round One: Who Am I?

To whoever is reading this, I’m just going to apologize right now while I'm still ahead. I’m going to be writing this utilizing my favorite literary device known as “stream of consciousness” (For those of you already lost, here is a formal definition-> http://literarydevices.net/stream-of-consciousness/), which I first picked up from that odd-sock-main-character in Catcher in the Rye. Don’t worry, you’ll catch on. *Pun definitely intended.*

For starters, my full name is Sydnee Claire Rudolph. I hear DePiero likes nicknames, and I’ve got a crap-ton of them ranging from SydTheKid, to Squid, to Sydmysterly, to BSS, (maybe I’ll explain later). I’m from a small town in The Middle of Nowhere, CA., aka Oroville. I was born and raised there as an only child by my amazing Momma until my 18th birthday and, consequently, my high school graduation when I made the best decision of my life, which was to “get the heck outta dodge”and haul my booty down here to the 70-degrees-and-sunny paradise that is Santa Barbara.

Keeping in mind that I’m a 5”2, 18-year-old girl from a country bumpkin town who was moving 10 hours away from anyone and anything she has ever known, you can imagine…I was scared shitless, (or ‘crapless’ for the faint at heart.) Looking for a safe haven, I managed to find a place as a coxswain on the Men’s Crew Team. This is now my life:
(moment of pride: the voice in the background was my novice coach). I will probably talk way too much about this part of my existence, so I apologize for that also in advance. Aside from Crew, I volunteer at a place called HEARTS where I work with mentally/physically disabled children/adults while they ride and interact with horses. Horses are my second spirit animal, next to giraffes, so I absolutely love what I do there.

To end this on an interesting note, I’ll leave you with a fun fact: I’m a test tube baby. That’s right folks, this adorable face was created inside a lil’ tube and stuck inside her mommy to become a real live human. Cool enough for you?

This is SydTheKid signing off,

Over and Out.
